Source: Google MapsThe once-famous weekly disco was a hotbed for first shifts and the drunk room. You know because nothing says an Irish disco more than underage drinking.Oftentimes the most exciting part of it all was getting ready with your mates while indulging in some pre-drinking of Smirnoff Ice and naggins.Once that was done, it was off in your mam’s car to be dropped outside a rugby club to provide all the gossip for the following week. Here are 13 songs that provided the backdrop to any good Wezz night.1. Riverside – Sidney Samson Source: Spinnin’ Records/YouTubeAh Sidney Samson. This was put on the playlist in the anticipation that it would come on at least 3 times throughout the night and everyone would collectively lose their minds every single time.2. We Found Love – Rihanna Source: RihannaVEVO/YouTubeWhat playlist is complete without Rihanna ? ‘We found love in a hopeless place’ you screamed as you prayed desperately that Ian from Business would shift the face off you at some point. He never did though.3. Give Me Everything – Pitbull Source: PitbullVEVO/YouTubeYes Pitbull rhymed ‘Kodak’ with ‘Kodak’ which doesn’t exactly make him a lyrical genius but this was a great song to down a naggin to and honestly what’s more important when you’re 15?4. Pass Out – Tinie Tempah Source: freesubcribe2009/YouTube‘I been Southampton but I’ve never been to Scunthorpe’ which I believe is the lyrical equivalent of saying I’ve been to Fermoy but not Drogheda. A song where all the rugby lads tried to convince people they were cool and not just because they were on the JCT.5. Stereo Love – Edward Maya Source: Spinnin’ Records/YouTubeThere’s nothing like a good accordion to get you in the mood to dance in a sweat box like Wezz. This was usually the starting klaxon for the ‘Who Can Shift the Most’ competition that inevitably always happened. A DNA minefield.6. California Gurls – Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg Source: KatyPerryVEVO/YouTubeIf there’s one thing we didn’t have in the Wezz days it was ‘sun kissed skin’ as fake tan was only beginning its meteoric rise in popularity. While it made some people look like they lived in Spain for 6 months of the year, some of us ended up looking like a packet of nacho cheese Doritos. It was not a good time.7. We No Speak Americano – Yolanda Be Cool vs DCUP – Source: Ultra Music/YouTubeOnce this song came on (and it came on at least twice a night), all you could hear is the collective sound of lads yelling ‘DO DO DO DO Canada Goose outlet , DO DO DO, DO DO’ over and over again while jumping around as if their lives depended on it. We are not the most creative of people are we?8. Barbra Streisand – Duck Sauce Source: Scorpio Music/YouTubeI’m not even going to pretend that I understand the appeal of this song but once it came on, everyone was gone. It was like a mosh pit except with more sweat and streaky fake tan.9. Who’s That Chick? – David Guetta feat. Rihanna Source: David Guetta/YouTubeNo Wezz playlist is complete without 4-5 songs from David Guetta. The French DJ who is 50 this year (meaning he was the same age as your Da when his career peaked)  was always guaranteed to get the crowd going. It was also a helpful comment when trying to figure out who girl shifting Ian from Business was.10. Hey Soul Sister – Train Source: TrainVEVO/YouTube Now we all know the Wezz DJ wasn’t exactly going to set the world on fire with their playlist. However, I cannot for the life of me work out why this song was consistently played. It led to a lot of people stop dancing and slowly stare awkwardly at each other while oblivious couples shifted on. A mystery for the ages.11. Forget You – Cee Lo Green Source: CeeLo Green/YouTubeA song played near the end of the night when Ian from Business hadn’t shifted you and you swore this would be the last time you’d care (it wasn’t). That boy would have you heart until the Debs.12. Tik Tok – Kesha Source: keshaVEVO/YouTubeWe all thought we led the lifestyle that Kesha refers to in this song. You couldn’t really ‘see the sunlight’ when Wezz ended at 1am though could we? Yes we did stumble out of the club but had to quickly sober up and pretend we’d never heard of vodka while our mams collected us at the gate. A simpler time.canada goose outlet is on Instagram! canada goose parka
